There are two reactions one is likely to have after Lonzo Ball’s sensational play in his third NBA Summer League game: “WOW” or “It’s just the Summer League”. In this case, both reactions are justified.
The highly anticipated Summer League debut of Lakers rookie PG Lonzo Ball was up and down. The second overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft flashed his passing prowess with highlight dishes and showcased nice rebounding ability as well, finishing his first game with 5 assists and 4 rebounds. However, Ball did have his fair share of struggles. He finished 2-15 from the field and 1-11 from three point range, while also committing 3 turnovers. Furthermore, he exhibited a lack of speed, explosiveness, and offensive prowess that limit his scoring upside in the NBA, posting only 5 points in 32 minutes.
